Registration and Accomodation

The conference registration site is now open. The deadline for online registration is Nov. 30, 2012. During registration, you can also book blocked accomodation in the hotels marked on this map. If you wish to book somewhere else, be careful that beginning of december is a busy season, and book well in advance.

Access

Here is a (Google) map with the venue and the conference hotels indicated.

The closest subway station is Keage, on the Tozai line. This is the preferred route, marked in red on the map.

You can also take a bus to Kyotokaikan Bijutsukan-mae, in Okazaki, using line 5 or 100 from Kyoto Station, or 46 from Shijo area. Then follow the blue route on the map.

The site Kyoto Navi helps you finding public transportation around the city. The venue is close to Heian Jingu.

Kyoto being a relatively small city (despite its population of 1.5 millions), taxis are not overly expensive, rarely more than 2000 yens. If you want to go to the venue, ask for "Nanzenji-michi".

From abroad

Kansai International Airport, south of Osaka, is the natural access route to Kyoto. From there you can reach Kyoto Station in 1 hour 15 minutes, using the Limited Express HARUKA (runs twice an hour). Another option is to use a shared taxi (shuttle), which you should book in advance, operated either by Yasaka Taxi or MK Taxi.

The Central Japan International Airport, nearby Nagoya, provides an alternative access route. The Mu-Sky limited express to Nagoya runs every 30mn (and takes 30mn), and from there to Kyoto is just 35mn by Shinkansen (albeit a bit expensive).

Domestic flights arrive at Osaka Airport, northwest of Osaka, from which you can take a limousine bus to Kyoto.

You can check timetables for trains inside Japan on Jorudan's Norikae-Annai or on Google Maps.
